An excellent opportunity for a CISSP (or equivalent) IT SECURITY ARCHITECT to manage and develop IT SECURITY SOLUTIONS for a Global RETAIL Enterprise.

Based in CAPE TOWN this SECURITY ARCHITECT positions offers a salary dependant on experience. In addition, there are company shares and a comprehensive benefits package.

One of the largest and most successful Retailers – this is a large and complex enterprise where Information Security is paramount to the business, partners and clients.

As the IT Security Architect, you will be responsible for developing security solutions across enterprise environments. In this role, you will work closely with the IT Security Manager, IT, Legal/Compliance, and other engineers to create solutions to complex security problems, while consulting and documenting architecture solutions that will keep corporate and customer data secure.  You will also be responsible for collaborating on defining and implementing information security strategy, tools, and processes to ensure all environments meet industry and security best practices. 

Determining security requirements.
Lead the identification, measurement, control and minimization of security risks to information systems across a broad range of disciplines.
Own the development of repeatable architectures working with internal and external partners to ensure that systems are placed within the relevant security zones
Model threats & risks as well as the controls necessary to mitigate them, on both an organizational and technical level.
Provide technical advice on access control, security models, disaster recovery, business continuity planning, and security awareness.
Influence policy and procedures covering the selection of suppliers, tendering and procurement, promoting good practice in third party management with respect to information security.

You will have very solid knowledge and experience in Network Security, VPN, Virtualisation, Disaster Recovery, Information Security Management, Network Architecture, Antivirus etc.
A relevant IT Security qualification.
At least 7 years’ experience within IT security. 
Strong understanding of enterprise, network, system and application level security.
Understanding and exposure to IT Security architectures (SABSA, TOGAF).
Exposure to Standards (COBIT, ISO,NIST, SANS etc.).
Working exposure to firewalls (Fortinet, CISCO) and other related Security technologies (DLP, Virtualization, Cloud Solutions).
Knowledgeable and exposure with Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), Internet Proxies, VPN, Anti-Virus & Internet Access Management and Control.
Good functional knowledge of end-to-end Information Security technologies, policies, procedures, controls and tool-sets.
Excellent knowledge of data security concepts and principles.
Understanding of end point security (MDM).
