Job Description

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Accountant / Cost Accountant to play a crucial role in ensuring a leading manufacturer’s continued success through the DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT OF ENTERPRISE WIDE BUDGETS and product costing and analysis.


This proudly South African, vertically integrated organisation has manufactured, marketed and distributed their very well-known brand range of household products both within SA and Sub-Saharan Africa for well over a decade.  With over 800 employees, state of the art manufacturing facilities and a sizable portion of the local market share, they continue to be a fierce competitor to large multi-nationals both here and in Sub-Saharan African.

Working with the GM of Finance, you will be responsible for product costing, development of companywide budgets and variance analysis, comprehensive reporting on business performance and profitability through ROI analysis and evaluation of financial statements.

Budget and Forecasting:

Development of comprehensive budgets for both the entire company and individual departments
Track expenses, adjustments and revenue vs. budgets and provide variance analysis
Develop forecasts
Financial Analysis – Business Performance, Sales and Marketing:

Evaluate data and financial statements from Market Research Agencies, Retailers and Wholesalers to determine the ROI of product promotions, discounts and retailer rebates on a macro and micro level (per region, store and SKU etc.)
Trend analysis and reporting
Support new product development initiatives through the preparation of projected financial statements
Plant reporting (product, raw material and bottling):

Product costing
Standard cost analysis
Provide commentary on monthly performance, operations and efficiencies of each plant

CIMA qualification
A minimum of 5 years relevant experience in the FMCG industry
Knowledge of various types of promotions, discounts and rebates
Be able to demonstrate strategic thinking and initiative
Strong knowledge of JDE or other ERP systems
