This is an excellent opportunity for a RETAIL CATEGORY MANAGER / CATEGORY BUYER / RETAIL MERCHANDISE PLANNER to become DEPARTMENT MANAGER (Electronics Category) for a leading ONLINE RETAILER.  This role requires ELECTRONICS CATEGORY Solutions experience – either in Computer Networking & Data Storage, or Office Electronics & Printing.

Based in CAPE TOWN this CATEGORY MANAGER role offers a salary of R600K – R650K/annum.

Their business is driven by technology and data, which influence all Category strategies. The company has amongst the largest Retail data assets in the country and as such their Retail Category Management Teams have an opportunity to radically shape the future direction of Online Retail, by providing Consumers with brilliant choice, availability and at attractive prices.

THE ROLE:
Reporting to the Electronics Division Manager, your responsibilities will include:
Develop a comprehensive strategy/plan to drive growth across the Electronics department in sales, brands, suppliers and new product listings.
Source and prioritise new brands and suppliers according to this growth plan and in line with market trends and consumer demand.
Deliver against key financial and service level performance indicators within the department (sales, margin, listings availability, stock cover etc.).
Manage and develop supplier relationships, negotiate good prices, improve trading terms and manage suppliers according to strict SLAs.
Develop a promotional program, source great deals and manage site merchandising for the department.
Support the operations team in delivering a world-class customer experience – monitor department returns, support the customer service team on product queries and resolving any customer complaints.
Manage stock and availability (including replenishment orders, stock cover).
Supporting performance improvement initiatives for the Retail team as a whole.

REQUIRED SKILLS:
Commercial/Retail experience – having worked in either Store Retail or Online Retail, as a Category Manager or Category Buyer, or Merchandise Planner or Merchandise Buyer.
Must have Electronics Category experience - either in Computer Networking & Data Storage, or Office Electronics & Printing.
Strong analytical ability, able to use data to inform decisions, identify the root cause and resolve problems.
Proven track record of negotiation and stakeholder management
Understanding of the key business drivers within online retail
Bachelor’s degree (commerce degree preferable).
