This is an excellent opportunity for a SENIOR BACKEND DEVELOPER to gain GOLANG expertise, along with specialist skills in Linux and how to best harness it for performance.

Based in CAPE TOWN this SENIOR BACKEND DEVELOPER role offers a salary of R900K – R1M/annum.

The company offers FLEXIBLE WORK HOURS, with core hours between 10am-2pm daily. Outside of these times your work hours can be structured to entirely suit you.

Operating in South Africa and Australia, this is a specialist SOFTWARE COMPANY who are a certified partner of one of the largest and technically most advanced Networking Products Company. 
Their function is to develop a cloud-based management platform for Enterprise Network environments – their products enable engineers to manage their environments simply and reduces operations costs. 
This cloud-based platform is delivered as a service and is built using the absolute newest technologies.
If you join this company you will work with a team who are highly skilled in technologies like GOLANG, VUE, PHP and more, along with Linux platform experts.

Joining a development team of 8 people you will help maintain and expand the set of products and services. You will work with the newest technologies and have the autonomy to create work without being micromanaged. Your voice will be valued in both internal projects as well as in customer facing products. This is a fast paced, tight-knit, collaborative team.

Day-to-day you will:
Lead development of new features for the future of the Platform, including web app, APIs and services.  The backend services and APIs will be your primary focus.
You’ll collaborate with colleagues across all facets of the business to deliver and launch projects; and help grow the platform by actively participating in code reviews, pair programming, training and mentoring. You will also take ownership for documentation and process to improve development velocity as well as help support products and services.

Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
8+ years experience coding in any of JS, Go, Ruby, Python or PHP.
Proficient with web technologies and databases (NoSQL and RDBMS) and RESTful APIs.
Ability to think of business concerns beyond engineering and experiences working with cross-functional feature teams.
Passionate about pragmatic code design and strong desire to contribute to a small team.
Knowledge of service-oriented architecture (SOA) and/or micro-services architecture (MSA).
Good understanding of Linux and how to best harness it for performance.
Personally, you must be motivated by sharing knowledge and working closely as part of a dynamic team. You’ll thrive on building a foundation for future products/services and implementing solutions in the present. 
You will value programming as a tool for problem solving and consider yourself a generalist.
