Job Description

Great opportunity for a SENIOR BI DEVELOPER / BI TEAM LEAD to join a team adopting a new BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE and DATA SCIENCE agenda for a LEADING RETAILER. This role offers a functional career path into BI Management, and technically the chance to gain Data Solution BI Design and Architecture expertise.  

Based in CAPE TOWN this SENIOR BI / BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE TEAM LEAD role offers a salary of R780K – R840K/annum.

Respected as one of the best performing Retailers, this business has an exceptionally strong BI and Data Warehouse Development team. 
They are also in-process adopting DATA SCIENCE technologies enabling Analytics to support their interpretation of their exceptionally large data assets.

This position requires a BI DEVELOPER at TEAM LEAD level – this role is both technically hands-on and internal client-facing. The team are using Agile / KANBAN /waterfall / hybrid methods in an ORACLE environment. Oracle 11g, 12c and IBM DataStage environment. 
As part of the role you will be able to research and learn Cloud Enabled data solutions and Big Data Implementation using Hadoop.
Data Science experience with Python and ‘R’ will be a big advantage.

This role provides the chance to be at the forefront of enhancing this retailer ambition towards Big Data, Machine Learning and Cloud Computing. 
Success in the role means that Data science will drive Big Data programmes, consisting of several technologies that will work to provide customer insight that predict present and future patterns, enabling this Retailer to react to customer behaviour accordingly

Solid experience in BI Development and at Team Lead level.
Ideally degree educated (but not essential).
Business Intelligence / Data Warehousing Development experience.
Oracle or SQL Server database experience.
Solid ETL experience.
Strong SQL skills are required.
SSIS or DataStage or ODI experience.
Oracle 11g or Oracle 12c experience will be a plus, but not essential.
OBIEE will also be an advantage, but not essential.
Programming skills in Python and ‘R’.
A keen interest in Data Science and associated technologies.
